Ok, I know it isn’t Christmas quite yet, but it IS October which in my book, means I reserve the right to start getting excited about it. I adore the festive season so much it actually changes my personality for a full three months of each year. I’m full of joy and positivity at any given moment…not that I’m a grouchy old fucker the rest of the year, but let’s just say that my trademark angst and tendency to worry about EVERYTHING, disappear.
My original plan for 2105 was to hit up Prague, after a very successful trip to Bruges last year in December. However, as you’ll know if you’ve read my earlier posts, I am saving for NYC in 2016 so finances are somewhat depleted. Sigh. But, ya know, you can’t have it all, right? So I figured I wouldnt be enjoying another solo trip abroad this year.
WRONG. All it took was a few proseccos at my local boozer with some work pals, to convince me that actually, there ARE places I can go, at very little cost, with very little travelling time involved, that don’t involve having to board some dodgy-as-fuck budget aircraft. Ladies and gents, I give you, Paris. PARIS.
Now, I’ve never really felt a particularly strong gravitational pull towards Paris. I mean, it looks ok and all that, but there are plenty of other places higher up on my list. BUT, when you consider that you can get to Paris and back in one day, thereby eliminating hotel costs, AND Eurostar can get you a return for 70 quid, it starts to look mightily more attractive as a prospect.
My first port of call was to Google the status of their Christmas markets, of course. What’s the point in a festive trip if I cant drink mulled shit and browse some local tat? I decided it looked suitably pretty so I booked my Eurostar ticket two days later. I don’t fuck about, kids.
So at present, that’s where I am with that. On 30th November this year I shall be arriving in Paris around 11am, and leaving around 8pm. If anyone has any clever ideas of where I can go or what I can do inbetween, hit me up as I am clueless.
